Dan Gilbert To Son: You Can Wear Your LeBron James Jersey Again

Dan Gilbert has been holding a grudge against LeBron James since the superstar left the Cleveland Cavaliers back in 2010. Well, that’s all water under the bridge now as the King is heading back home.

Gilbert is even going to let his 8-year-old son wear his LeBron James jersey again.

Several Cavaliers fan burned jerseys after LeBron left in 2010 and Gilbert penned a strongly worded letter about how his “homegrown star” was abandoning the city. LeBron addressed the letter, as well as some of the “mistakes” he made, during his announcement today.

LeBron writes:

“The letter from Dan Gilbert, the booing of the Cleveland fans, the jerseys being burned — seeing all that was hard for them. My emotions were more mixed. It was easy to say, “OK, I don’t want to deal with these people ever again.” But then you think about the other side. What if I were a kid who looked up to an athlete, and that athlete made me want to do better in my own life, and then he left? How would I react? I’ve met with Dan, face-to-face, man-to-man. We’ve talked it out. Everybody makes mistakes. I’ve made mistakes as well. Who am I to hold a grudge?”

LeBron and Gilbert have patched things up and, judging by the reaction on Twitter today, it looks like Cleveland is ready to welcome back the NBA’s best player with open arms.
