Captain America: The Winter Soldier has surged at the box office since its Thursday release, off the back of strong social media buzz.
The movie, the sequel to 2011’s Captain America: The First Avenger, earned $10.2 million on advanced Thursday night screenings, and is predicted to deliver between $107-$125 million at the box office this week according to Forbes.
The movie again stars Chris Pine in the title role, and takes up the story two years after The First Avenger.
Reviews for the movie have been strong, with a “fresh rating” of 88% on Rotten Tomatoes and a Metacritic score of 70.
One sure sign of impeding success for the movie comes from social media, where Captain America trended in the top five search terms on Google April 5th and the morning of April 6th, as well as dominating the top 10 trends chart on Twitter.
It was impossible to find a bad word about the movie so far, with many heaping praise.
Captain America: The Winter Soldier was incredible! 10/10 would watch again!
