Bitstrips, The Annoying Custom Comics App, Receives $3 Million In Funding

Bitstrips

Bitstrips has taken over Facebook News Feeds since its mobile app launch in October, and our very own Dusten Carlson even wrote about how to hide the comics.

While many users have become annoyed, the creators have three million new reasons to plot further World domination.

According to TechCrunch, Bitstrips has received $3 million in Series A funding from Horizons Ventures.

CEO Jacob Blackstock says the investment will help the company to expand worldwide since it’s currently only available in English.

“Bitstrips has been growing steadily for a long time, but the launch of the mobile app made it possible for people to create comics anytime, anywhere. Life is full of moments that are made to be ‘bitstripped,’ and now people can share those moments instantly in comic form. It’s this instantaneous aspect of the mobile experience that enabled Bitstrips to go viral so rapidly.”

According to Bitstrips, over 30 million comics have been created in just the past two months, and it’s currently listed as one of the top 10 entertainment apps in the App Store.

Maybe we’re all just acting like a bunch of grumpy cats, but either way, good on Bitstrips for raking in the Benjamins, and at least taking us away from photos of friend’s kids.
