There’s a very simple formula to being rich and famous. Step 1: Be attractive. Step 2: Don’t be unattractive. Step 3: Go out in public. That’s all Axelle Despiegelaere had to do to land a L’Oreal campaign.

Axelle Despiegelaere is basically the Katherine Webb of the World Cup. The attractive 17-year-old Belgium fan was simply watching the World Cup when someone took a couple of photos of her. Those photos went viral and eventually caught the eye of someone at L’Oreal.

And wouldn’t you know it. A few days later and Axelle was starring in her own commercial.

Yes, things are moving pretty quickly for Axelle Despiegelaere. In addition to her near instant viral fame, the young World Cup fan model has already found herself embroiled in some controversy. Someone dug up an old photo which shows Axelle posing with a dead animal. Details about the hunting photo aren’t known but some people are really upset about it.

It even earned a response from the official Axelle Despiegalaere Facebook page.

The message reads: “It seems like it was about 1 or 2 years ago, she was 15/16 years old. I don’t know how she feels now about hunting, but i know for sure that we cant judge someone for what she has done as a teenagers at the age of 16, and we don’t even know if indeed it was her who did the hunting, or she just took a picture. If I receive a statement from Axelle her self, I will definitely post it here. Thanks.”

It’s pretty amazing how quickly someone can become a celebrity these days. Axelle Despiegalaere went from random World Cup fan, to L’Oreal model, to internet rage victim in just a few days. At this rate she’ll be starring in her own reality show this weekend. Or maybe she’ll fade into obscurity. We’ll have to wait and see.
