Adam Richman Show Pulled Over Instagram #Thinspiration Comments

man vs food

The Travel Channel announced today that they were pulling Adam Richman’s show Man Finds Food after the talk show host made some disturbing comments on Instagram.

Richman drew some major criticism after using the hashtag #thinspiration on an Instagram post. Richman later claimed that he didn’t know that the #thinspiration hashtag was often associated with eating disorders thanks to unrealistic images like these.

A simple apology, or even a little silence from Richman, would have likely ended the controversy. But the Travel Channel host decided to engage a few of his critics and, well, it got pretty ugly.

Richman wrote: “Give me a f—ing break. If anyone acts like a c— I’ll call them one. It’s not misogyny, it’s calling a spade a spade…if my use of the hashtag offended you, it was unintentional & for that I’m sorry.”
He told another commentator to commit suicide, writing: “Grab a razor blade and draw a bath. I doubt anyone will miss you.”

Richman capped off his comments with the hashtag #DILLIGAF (Does it look like I give a f*ck.)

Man Finds Food was supposed to air on July 2 but the Travel Channel announced today that the show has been pulled from the schedule. It’s unclear when / if the Travel Channel will air Adam Richman’s show.

Richman issued an apology this morning to ABC, saying:  “I’ve long struggled with my body image and have worked very hard to achieve a healthy weight. I’m incredibly sorry to everyone I’ve hurt.”
