Yelp iOS App Updated, Shows Where Friends Are Checked-In, Optimized For iPad

Yelp iOS App Updated

Yelp on Wednesday released an update to its popular iOS app. Using the update users can now see which friends are checked in to businesses in the local search results page.

On the App Store changes page the company claims:

“Yelp search just got more social.”

Indeed the iOS app does appear to be more social, in fact the new feature very much mirrors a similar platform upgrade recently released by Foursquare.

Along with check-in data the new update also shows which businesses are open or close during all hours of the day. Yelp had come under fire for showing users businesses that were not open at their time of arrival.

Yelp has also released iPad optimization for venue pages, which now feature more photos. Venue pages for iPad users also now includes Deals and restaurant menus.

Yelp has also promised “speed improvements” for the iPhone 5.
