Twitter on Tuesday rolled out an update for its Windows Phone app. The newly redesigned app now features a sleek new look and support for Windows Live Tiles.
Looking at the app users will now find buttons for the Home, Connect, Discover, and Me tabs found in other versions for iOS and Android users.
The Home button shows users tweets from people they follow. Tapping on any tweets will then expand the message and provide Twitter Cards functionality for Twitter accounts using that option.
The Connect tab allows users to find people who have followed them, retweeted a message or clicked favorite on one of their tweets.
With the Discover tab users can find new Twitter users to follow and keep up with current trending terms found on the social network.
Just like other versions of the Twitter mobile platform, the Me tab allows for direct messaging, list editing and browsing and favorites listing. The Me tab is also used for updating profile information.
The biggest change and something only available on Windows Phones is the inclusion of Live Tiles. This new feature works by allowing users to customize Twitter alongside their devices displays. For example you can take a favorite tweet and pin it to your phones home screen. Live Tiles support also promises to deliver other Twitter features to the users phone display.
If you want to send out a tweet or perform a Twitter search those options are located at the top of the screen.
The new update is available now in the Marketplace and you can see an example of the apps new output below.
