Finding a life-long partner is already hard and is about to be a lot more, especially now that superficiality and narcissism are both quite high. This leads people to display their fake selves online, especially in the dating scene. Still, Tinder somehow has a solution for that which targets men who catfish their dates using fake height info with the help of height verification.

How it works is questionable and speculations even point to Tinder’s height verification being an April Fools’ joke. However, it seems that the damage has already been done and one dude on Reddit proposed another feature for women in order to counterbalance the double standards of ladies who prefer men for their height, and that is the weight verification:

In case the post gets deleted, Reddit user u/mclovin1654 is calling for a Tinder feature that can somehow verify a female user’s weight. He claims, “Why the hell should guys show their height if women won’t show their weight… It annoys the living f*ck out of me that women aren’t held to the same societal standards regarding attraction that men are.”

You could say that he is taking a swipe at such a shallow dating culture… by making it even more superficial. Then again, according to the Reddit user, catfishing with weight, or “fatfishing” is quite widespread. Whatever Tinder’s aim for this insecurity magnet of a verification feature, hopefully, it does not fuel more sexist divides among biological genders. Better yet, let’s hope it’s all just an April Fools’ joke.

As it is, dating in the modern world is difficult enough already.
