One puzzling thing we humans expect from our own pets is to act by our social ethics and laws and defy their nature. That is unfair for the animals since they do not have the luxury of having an advanced society
42-year-old Franklin Baxley from Massachusetts is a dog person and regularly visits the Attleboro dog park. One day, Baxley and his dog were enjoying their leisurely walk when they encountered another woman with her own dog. Anyone who knows dogs should also know that they go by their instinct, especially during mating season, and that’s what happened.
Baxley’s dog humped the blonde woman’s dog and usually, dog owners would have a good laugh at that while trying to separate them if they’re not neutered. However, the blonde woman felt that Baxley’s dog’s humping was “aggressive,” so she called the police on Baxley, who is of African-American descent. Here’s the video:
It seems the woman also wanted Baxley and his dog to leave the dog park after Baxley pulled his dog away from her. Since Baxley refused, this apparently triggered the woman to call the cops on him. The police arrived and thankfully, the matters were resolved with no charges filed.
Still, Baxley had to ask the police if the call was necessary, to which the cops responded, “We have a motto written on the sides of our cars: no call too small. If you see something, say something – and we’ll investigate it.” Meaning it’s fine to call the cops on a dog owner if their dog follows what nature intended for it to do when procreating.
In a later interview, Baxley defended that “I am a responsible dog owner, and my dog is super friendly. Anyone who goes to that park regularly knows me and will attest to that fact. The dogs were living their best lives the whole time.” What do you think of the incident? Feel free to discuss in the comments.
