Foursquare Cultural Events

Foursquare on Wednesday rolled out a new discovery feature that allows users to find cultural events in their immediate area. Among available information is authors appearances, plays, nearby business venues, and other information.

Content for the new Foursquare cultural search arrives by way of its partnership with the urban weekly newspaper company Voice Media Group. The two company’s announced the new partnership in January 2013.

The new feature has been added to the Foursquare ‘Explore’ tab which allows users to discover nearby businesses, view information about those businesses and even find directions to their venue of choice.

The new feature already includes some info from upcoming concerts and sporting events.

In a blog post announcing the new cultural events feature Foursquare announced:

“To find great goings-on near you, just open up Explore and tap through to your favorite places. You’ll see things like gallery openings and author appearances.”

Will you be taking advantage of the Foursquare cultural events tab in the Explore section of Foursquare’s apps?
