Millions of viewers across the globe tuned in 2017 to watch George Clarke announce the winner during the final episode of Channel 4’s Amazing Spaces Shed of the Year contest — and it was the treehouse hand-built by Ben Swanborough that took the final prize.

The Mushroom House, which happens to be the 10th anniversary winner of the annual shed spectacle, beat stiff competition following 26,571 public votes and a record-breaking 2,963 entries.

Shed of the Year 2018 likewise has brought in thousands of unorthodox entries such as pub-inspired creations, a Tudor playhouse and a converted black cab.

Nearly 3,000 people entered their outdoor sanctuaries and there are now just 24 aspirants remaining in eight categories, which include eco-friendly designs and historic-like structures.

One of the most innovative submissions, a “Piano Raft” crafted by Ben Cummins in West Yorkshire, has journeyed from Leeds to Liverpool on a pair of skis over 5 years and is now being reshaped into a piano.

The public are welcomed to vote for their favored entry in each category HERE.

Voting closes at 9:00am on August 28th, and afterwards the category winners will be reviewed by a judging panel.

The winner, announced in September, will receive a plaque, a giant crown and $125-worth of woodwork products from the contest’s sponsor, Cuprinol.

Shed of the Year founding father Andrew Wilcox said judges had been “blown away” by this year’s entries.
