Twitter Upgrades Tweet Embedding, Create More Engaging, Faster Platform

Twitter embeds have become an important part of the internet landscape. Bloggers, news agencies and other websites use Twitter embeds to showcase breaking news, display the public’s feelings towards certain events and simple to add a new dimension to their standard text, picture and video formats. On Tuesday Twitter announced enhancements to embedded tweets.

The first big change is the addition of more content and context. According to Twitter’s Brian Ellin (@Brianellin), embedded tweets now “display photos, videos, article summaries and other content shared in a Tweet, just like you see on twitter.com. You can also view retweet and favorite counts to better understand engagement, and we’ve made some tweaks to the design so that embedded Tweets are easier to read.”

Here is a quick example of the new format:

Twitter’s embedded tweets also now load faster thanks to better technology used to power the company’s platform.

Finally, Twitter has added easier to embed tweets by simply having users click the “More” button on any Twitter.com tweet at which point they click “Embed this Tweet” and then past the code into a website post.

TweetDeck retains the same easy of use functionality for embedding tweets from the Twitter platform.
