Social media is full of network active sports teams and a new infographic examines sports biggest winners and losers in social networking. The infographic was put together by Eventility, a platform for organizing and promoting events, clubs, groups, communities or places.

Here are the most liked sports teams on Facebook:

  • Barcelona – 38 million
  • Real Madrid – 34 million
  • Manchester United – 29.5 million
  • LA Lakers – 15.4 million
  • Chelsea – 14.5 million
  • AC Milan – 12.9 million
  • Arsenal – 12.2 million
  • Liverpool – 10.8 million
  • Galatasaray – 7.7 million
  • Chicago Bulls – 7.5 million

Here are the most liked sports players on Facebook:

  • Christiano Ronaldo – 51.8 million
  • Lionel Messi – 39.6 million
  • David Beckhma – 22.9 million
  • Michael Jordan – 21.4 million
  • Kaká – 19.7 million
  • Kobe Bryant – 19.7 million
  • Lebron James – 12.9 million
  • Roger Federer – 12.1 million
  • Rafa Nadal – 11.4 million
  • Wayne Rooney – 11.1 million

The most liked female sports player on Facebook is Maria Sharapova with 8.9 million likes while the most liked player in athletics is Usain Bolt with 10.2 million likes.

  • Barcelona – 7.5 million
  • Real Madrid – 6.3 million
  • LA Lakers – 2.8 million
  • Arsenal – 2 million
  • Galatasaray – 1.9 million
  • Chelsea – 1.6 million
  • Fenerbache – 1.5 million
  • Orlando Magic – 1 million
  • Miami Heat – 950,000
  • Boston Celtics – 870,000

When it comes to social media’s sport losers, Mark Cuban was fined $50,000 on January 8, 2013 for his Twitter comments about league officiating in the NBA. Chelsea player Ashley Cole was fined £90,000 in October 2012 after he posted a tweet calling the Football Association a “bunch of twats.”

Rashard Mendenhall of the Pittsburgh Steelers is also a social media loser after he lost his sponsorship deal with Champion when he tweeted about a conspiracy theory over the September 11th attacks.
