ChowNow Delivers Food Ordering To Facebook, Raises $3 Million

ChowNow, a food ordering service that integrates with Facebook, mobile and web pages has raised $3 million in series A funding. The company plans to use its new windfall to expand its national operations and to create new products.

The new round of funding was led by GRP Partners, Daher Capital, Double M Capital, Karlin Ventures, and Velos Partners.

ChowNow operates on a simple but useful premise. The company sends Facebook users to the Facebook page or website of their favorite restaurants, allowing them to choose based on preference rather than a long list of nearby food joints.

According to ChowNow co-founder and CEO Christopher Webb:

“If a restaurant sends a customer to a portal (GrubHub, etc.), it would be like Delta sending customers to Kayak or Priceline to buy tickets. The vast majority of to-go orders come from repeat customers so it’s not logical to pay 15 percent to a portal if someone was going to order from the restaurant anyway.”

ChowNow launched in May 2012 and instantly became a hit when it was shown off at the National Restaurant Association Show.

Hundreds of local restaurants are now using ChowNow, including chains such as CiCi’s Pizza and Ground Round.

ChowNow plans to add more than 1,000 new restaurants in the first half of 2013.
