Dropbox Adds New Scanning Functionality to App

Dropbox just made managing your files a whole lot easier, courtesy of their new app functionality.

The company has now added a document-scanning feature together with the new updates for the iOS app. All you need do s snap a photo of a receipt, sketch, business card, or any other kind of document, and the app instantly turns it into a PDF. You can likewise convert existing photos into PDFs.

Where to find it? Just look for t under the all-new “+” menu. If you’re a Dropbox Business user, you can even use the text of your scans to search through your files to make retrieving the right document a whole lot faster and easier.

his brand-new update works closely together with Microsoft Office. It deep-links into your MS Word, Powerpoint, and Excel files. Now, instead of just editing documents, you can also very well create new ones, too. This, we can imagine, makes excellent news for busy business folks who are constantly on the go. Other updates include the ability to add comments to any part of the document, image, or slide deck. This feature used to be exclusive to Dropbox Business users, but is now open to everyone with the Dropbox app. There’s a new feature that’s currently in the pipeline, which lets users comment on the document in real time, though the launch date for this has still yet to be announced.

All these nifty features are all available on the iOS version, and will also be coming soon to the Android app.
