Parenting is perhaps one of the most difficult jobs around. It’s a position where you need to be on call 24/7, 365 days a year, and breaks or vacation leaves are a rare, rare thing, if one ever does come your way. Its main job description is catering to every need and whim of a client (i.e., your child) whose mercurial moods and needs may change just like that. They may either be communication-challenged yet expect you to know what they exactly need RIGHT NOW, or be extremely critical of your work quality and never even deliver a bit of praise. the compensation is practically non-existent, and your clients will demand you pay for their needs out of their own pocket. The benefits of parenting may, however include occasional hugs and kisses, “I love you”s, and proud moments that will last you a lifetime.
And then, of course, there’s always wine, as this Tesco receipt will attest.
The Unmumsy Mum posted this image a member sent in on Facebook. The admin captioned it as “parenting essentials ;)”, which makes absolute sense.
Commenters chimed in with their own unmumsy-motherly wisdom. Jade Swan said: “Tesco should do essential mum offers: 1 packet of wipe, 1 packet of nappies, 1 bottle of wine, 1 large chocolate bar £15. Like they do the dine in for £10 lol” (sic).
“Can’t believe this – ashamed to say after a really tough day yesterday hubby and I had doughnuts and red wine for tea last night!”, chirped fellow commenter Christina Dobson.
The post has so far seen 1,322 shares and 27,000 reactions, so we think it’s pretty safe to say a lot of parental units out there know the feel, too. We raise a glass to all you parents out there!
