Valentine’s Day is right around the corner. That means many will empty their wallets to shower their loved one with gifts. Flowers, chocolates, expensive dinners… what exactly makes up the perfect Valentine’s Day gift? Thanks to our friends over at The Shelf, we know exactly where all that money goes..
The creative minds over at The Shelf took a look at what marketers can do to get some of that Valentine’s day lovin’ (a.k.a. those precious profits). With more than 50 percent of Americans celebrating the day of love, is it really any surprise that they spend almost $19 billion on gifts? That’s a lot of chocolate hearts!
What’s even more interesting is that your location, age and even gender play a huge role in your Valentine’s Day spending habits. For example, 25-34 year old males spend the most. 18-24 year olds spend the least.
Even certain locations take the day of love more seriously than others. Like Miami, those lovers over there tweet about V-day more than any other city.
And it isn’t just girlfriends and wives getting all the gifts. More than $700 million are spent on buying gifts for pets. Those four-legged friends need to know they are loved too, right?
This incredible infographic (check it out here) was created to show online marketers how important it is to get out there for this upcoming holiday. In this technological age, most gifts are being bought online anyways. Most people ignore pesky online advertisements. But, what is the one thing most people pay the most attention to? Social media. Marketers are learning how important it is to tap into this valuable tool.
If you would like to learn more about how social media can transform your business, check out The Shelf’s website for some great advice. Just like all the great advice in this infographic, there is plenty more where that came from.
