Twitter Creates Emojis for Paris Climate Change Summit

The evidence is clear: climate change is here, and it’s happening. Joining the fight can start with a few simple emojis.

Twitter has revealed four new emojis you can access with hashtags in preparation for the UN Climate Summit happening this December in Paris, France. Big players and world leaders such as President Obama, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chinese President Xi Jinping will be discussing with experts with aims on forging a real global agreement to cut emissions of planet warming greenhouse gases.

Many climate experts and scientist believe that this summit could be the make-or-break point for the future of planet Earth. The summit aims to limit the global warming target to 2 degrees Celsius, or 3.6 degrees Fahrenheit, well above industrial levels. If global warming exceeds this target, scientists foresee an unstable future with catastrophic results: extremely unpredictable weather conditions, drought, famine, food shortages, unprecedented sea level rises, and more.

World leaders view this COP Summit is merely the fist step in a long journey towards sustainability after 21 years of climate negotiations. And it’s high time, to, with the Earth already hitting the critical point.

“There is such a thing as being too late,” said President Barack Obama, quoting Martin Luther King Jr. “That hour is almost upon us.”

So spread the word, and spread the awareness with emojis accompanying these hashtags:
