Hot on the heels of Essena O’Neill’s Instagram uproar, another model is starting to shake Instagram up a few notches further with some changes she’s making in her daily posts.
Stina Sanders is a London-based model who enjoys running, spending quality time with her frenchie, and posting the occasional selfie. she has also posed for publications such as Maxim and FHM, and her Instagram feed is choc-ful of her own shots of her work and shoot locations.

However, after reading about Essena O’Neill’s crusade against the inauthenticity of social media, Sanders has been making a few changes to her posts. She’s started getting realer with her followers, and her photographs invite them into the more intimate parts of her life. Just how intimate? How does a slouchy makeup-free afternoon working from home sound like? Chipped toenails? A colon irrigation session?
It’s 12:50 I still haven’t showered or brushed my teeth. I’m on my second cup of coffee and I’m going to see how long I can go without caring about my personal hygiene. #love #workingfromhome! A photo posted by STINA SANDERS (@stinasanders) on

One of her posts also touches on living with her own Depression and Anxiety, and how going to therapy and talking about it is something not to be embarrassed about.
Harley Street isn’t just to fix your nose or your boobs – You can also fix your mind! I’ve just finished an intense 2 month psychotherapy session to sort out my anxiety issues. It’s been over two weeks since my last panic attack ? Depression and anxiety isn’t something to hide away from. Get talking!
For such a refreshing take on the Insta-daily, why have her followers dwindled? According to People magazine, her follower count has toppled from 13,000 to under 10,000. “To see a photo of my bowel movements and not me in a bikini must have annoyed a lot of them,” Sanders shares. “It’s that kind of ‘I didn’t sign up for this’ attitude. Perhaps sharing my real life was too much for them. It’s interesting to see that real life is not to everyone’s taste. Perhaps Instagram is an escapism from reality. I see so many women comparing themselves to other people’s images, whether that’s the girl down the road or a Victoria Secret’s model. It’s just silly. No one is perfect.”

In the face of followers fleeing her account, the followers who did choose to stay have become more vocal in their support of her choice to show a more human side to her. they’ve also chimed in with their own stories of their struggles, and have expressed encouragement and connection to Sanders.
or Stina Sanders, there’s no love lost to her ex-Instagram followers. She understands that there are just some people who’d prefer to see a curated version of her. “People don’t want to see reality because they see that every day,” she writes to Huffington Post. “Plus people want inspiration. It’s only human to look at others and want the same, if not better.”
