An Ohio state trooper, now serving five years in prison, was found to be using Craigslist to advertise “traffic stop sex”.
ormer Ohio state trooper Bryan Lee is currently serving a five year prison term for sexually harassing women he pulled over. This week, records revealed just how extensive the trooper’s violations were. In addition to coercing female motorists into engaging in sexual acts in exchange for dropping traffic charges, Lee used the website Craigslist to post classified ads for “traffic stop sex”.
Records also show Lee obsessively sent multiple Facebook messages to a young woman he had previously pulled over and photographed topless. In one of the messages, Lee indicated he had been ‘keeping an eye on her’.
The records were released Monday in response to media requests. They include a dashcam video which shows Lee flirting with two women he pulled over, as well as taking topless photos of the driver.
The incident follows growing civil unrest regarding police forces in some U.S. states. Last month, a Massachusetts policeman landed himself in hot water after threatening to kill another driver while he was off duty. Following a number of controversial incidents involving race, calls for reform roundly call for more police accountability and transparency.
Many police departments have begun taking measures to address public concern, such as releasing more public records and requiring their officers to wear body cams.
