Expectant mom Ria Findlay was rather looking forward to her treat: sitting down to a box of fresh and delicious Krispy Kreme donuts. She lovingly picked up a caramel-creme-filled one and bit into it with gusto. Yummy frosting, oh-so-soft dough, sweet-as-can-be creme — and something rubbery.
To make matters worse, this was Findlay’s first time trying a filled donut, and as the saying goes, first impressions may last. This wasn’t quite the impression she was hoping for, though.
@krispykremeUK @Tesco since when is ‘rubber glove’ the new filling? #disgusting #WTF pic.twitter.com/6s2kL05I9o

“It was my first doughnut that I’d ever eaten without the hole inside so it was supposed to be an exciting new experience,” she shares. “As it was my first, I was discussing flavours of the filling with my colleague next to me … It was like: ‘Oooh there’s caramel, and cream and oh what’s this blue stuff?’ … After a bit of prodding we realized it was a prep glove … Being 7 months pregnant, my gag reflex was in overload.”
We don’t blame you, Ria. We really don’t.
Findlay was quick to post the pictures on social media, and many commenters were just as appalled as she was.
Thankfully, Krispy Kreme UK’s account responded as swiftly as possible.
“Hi Ria, please accept our apologies. Please can you send full details over to us so we can investigate and liaise with you > firstname.lastname@example.org. Our customer care team will be in touch with you tomorrow.”
They also speedily released a statement.
“We are extremely sorry to hear about this incident. We take our food hygiene very seriously and are currently conducting a full investigation into the matter.
