A face on the back of a milk carton? Putting up a flyer? Those methods just don’t cut it anymore. Family and friends of Lauren Spierer, a student from the University of Indiana who went missing last Friday, have launched a viral search involving Facebook, Twitter, and celebrities. Unfortunately, nothing has turned up so far.

Spierer’s friends and family turned to social media to start spreading the word about her disappearance. A virtual missing persons poster is making its rounds via twitpic, and high profile celebrities like Ryan Seacrest and Alyssa Milano have posted Spierer’s picture to their Twitter pages.
