If you have ever experienced kidney stones, then you know they hurt extremely bad. Imagine have a severe case, then times that by 1,000. It became a reality for one Chinese man, as he was discovered to have more than 400 kidney stones inside of him.

Known only as Me He went to the doctor after experiencing severe abdominal pain. After an examination, the doctor discovered the massive case of kidney stones. The 55-year-old patient was immediately rushed into surgery, where the surgery team removed more than 420 stones of various sizes and colors. He’s surgeon, Dr. Wei said as much as 100 smaller stones were removed via suction equipment.

“I have never seen so many stones before. The operation took less than two hours of which 45 minutes was used to remove the stones. At the end of the operation I realised my arms and legs were numb. The plate used to collect the stones had at least 420 of them of varying sizes and coloured green and yellow. These didn’t include the tiny rice sized stones that were taken out using specialist suction equipment and these numbered over 100.”

Without emergency surgery, the doctor says Me He’s kidney would of had to be removed.

The kidney stones seem to be blamed on Me He’s diet of mainly tofu and not enough water consumption. Apparently, tofu is extremely high in calcium. Without ample water consumption, the calcium can build up in the kidney and form stones. The patient’s family says that they will try to monitor Me He’s diet and make sure he is cutting back on the tofu and drinking more water.

This isn’t the first time Me He has experienced this type of medical affliction. He says he was first treated for kidney stones nearly 20 years ago, when doctors found 10 of the pesky pebbles.
