Thanks to the social media gods! You can now post GIFs to Facebook. Since 2013, we have been using a workaround created by Giphy to share GIF on Facebook. Giphy allowed the GIFs to show up as videos on the popular social media site, but now Facebook supports actual GIFs!
Sharing your favorite GIF is just as easy as sharing a video or photo. Simply post a link to the GIF, like Tumblr or Imgur. But there is one drawback, you can’t upload a GIF directly to Facebook. The social media giant addressed the issues and rumors about the new GIF support:
“We built support for animated GIFs to help people express themselves in fun new ways on Facebook. Like many features that we release on Facebook, we want to ensure that this drives a great experience for people first before rolling it out more widely. While Pages cannot currently post GIFs, we are exploring ways to enable this in the future.”
This functionality is slowly rolling out to all Facebook users. Now, we know you are extremely excited, so we’ll help you decide the first GIF you should post. It has to be something that really says something about what kind of Facebook user you are:
The original diva, Marilyn Monroe. This GIF shows you know what you want and you will get it. You have to be the center of attention, all eyes on you.
The Pet Lover
Always posting cute pictures of puppies or kittens. Your pets are like your children. Now turn your adorable pictures into GIFs and have the likes rolling in.
The Slacker (Not Really)
You want people to think you don’t care about a thing. Secretly, you care A LOT. You want those likes, comments and shares. Everybody likes the cool, go with the flow guy, right? Share a simple GIF to really show people you don’t need a fancy GIF to be cool.
You flood your feed with your creative kitchen creations. You love exotic dishes and you love to share them with your Facebook friends. Why just post a picture of your fresh, organic, gluten-free snack, when you could create a GIF for it?
The Conspiracy Theorist
Conspiracies live on Facebook. You know who you are. The people that are constantly posting those theory stories. You know, 9/11 was an inside job, the Germanwings crash was a government act… the crazier the story, the better.
The Cool Mom
The mom who is friend’s with all their child’s friends. The one that can hang at the club all night with their younger friends and then get up for school drop-off in the morning. Make sure people know you don’t own a pair of mom jeans in your closet.
The Not-So-Cool Mom
This is for the user that is the complete opposite from the cool mom. She is constantly commenting on all of your statuses and any photo you are tagged in, especially if it isn’t your photo. She posts embarrassing childhood photos and make sure everyone you know sees them.
Those couples that choose to share a Facebook profile, this is for ya’ll. You want the word to know about how true your love is. Let that flame burn proudly. You can find this couple making out in a low-lit restaurant booth. Bonus points if there are also the couple that breaks up and makes up at least once a month.
Maybe it was a bad breakup, maybe it was unrequited love… whatever it is they have a frozen heart. They don’t want love, they don’t need love and they certainly don’t want to see love either. Those forementioned Facebook-sharing couples make them sick. On Valentines Day, avoid their page at all costs. It will just bring you down.
So, was your Facebook personality covered? No, well then make sure to post your GIF and tag @SocialNewsDaily. We would love to see it!
