A man known as Mr. X has been sentenced to nine months in jail after spending the last five years dodging a parking ticket.

Years ago, the 35-year-old man was caught racing at 67mph on a 50mph stretch of the M11 in Essex in 2009. He was given a ticket, but ignored the citation. After recieving numerous letters to contact authorities, the man finally called the police. But, he denied being the driver of the vehicle and placed the blame on a variety of other people. This led to a five year battle of trying to scheme his way out of paying the ticket. From naming other people in the crime to claiming he had already paid the ticket, Mr. X finally admitted to perjury and perverting the course of justice.

After all of his attempts to avoid the ticket, the authorities finally caught up to him and decided his punishment should be severe.

“But for five years he tried to deny the offence and committed two serious offences which ultimately led to him being sent to prison.”

Mr. X will now serve nine months in prison and pay a hefty fine. It just goes to show that you can’t outrun the law.
