Ben Hardy in X-Men: Apocalypse, Character Confirmed

X-Men Apocalypse

It isn’t news that Ben Hardy has been cast in the upcoming film, X-Men: Apocalypse, but it was unclear which character he would play. Finally, X-Men’s director, Bryan Singer has announced that Hardy will play Angel.

As the Montreal production gets closer, many were speculating if Angel would appear in the movie and who would portray the character. Singer confirmed the Hardy rumors.

“Ben Hardy is Angel – I shall confirm it for you!” said Singer. “But he’s not a very nice Angel! And that’s all I’ll say…”

For those who aren’t familiar with the characters, Angel is a mutant with wings and one of the original X-Men. Singer’s comment about Angel not being so nice has lead fans to believe things will be a little different with Hardy’s character.

Concept art photos show a different side of the winged mutant. Empire had the exclusive glimpse of the photos, which “shows Angel in two guises – with wings furled and then unfurled. And those wings look less like feathers and more like daggers.”

Empire explains why these pictures could be foreshadowing of what is to come. Basically, this costume could give away Angel’s entire storyline.

“If you haven’t read an X-Men comic before, allow us to explain: Apocalypse (played by Oscar Isaac) is a super-powerful mutant supported by the Horsemen, four artificially augmented mutants whose duty it is to do their master’s bidding. Perhaps the most famous Horseman of them all is Warren Worthington III, who was transformed from the blond, blue-eyed Angel into Death, aka the blue-skinned Archangel, complete with knives for wings.”

X-Men: Apocalypse will reunite the casts of X-Men: First Class and X-Men: Days of Future Past. The group includes: James McAvoy’s Professor X, Michael Fassbender’s Magneto, Jennifer Lawrence’s Mystique and Nicholas Hoult’s Beast, along with newcomers Hardy, Isaac, Tye Sheridan as Cyclops, Sophie Turner as Jean Grey, Alexandra Shipp as Storm and Kodi Smit-McPhee as Nightcrawler.

X-Men: Apocalypse will be released sometime next year.
