Here’s What Brad Pitt Really Said About His Daughter Shiloh ‘John’ Pitt

If you keep up on the latest Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie news then you’ve probably heard the latest story about about Shiloh “John” Pitt.

The Telegraph recently published an article about gender identity and they used Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie as an example to show how parents should deal with a transgender child.

The Telegraph writes: “Angelina Jolie’s eight-year-old daughter no longer wants to be known as Shiloh – she’d rather be called John. Her dad, Brad Pitt, recently disclosed in an interview that when he would call her ‘Shi’, she’d interrupt him saying, ‘I’m John’. Now the whole family address her as John (so we will too), and at her mum’s recent Unbroken film premiere, she wore a suit and tie to match her older brothers Pax and Maddox. Her tomboy tendencies have clearly been going on for a while.”

The problem with the Telegraph article is that Shiloh wanted to be called John back in 2008 when she was about 3-years-old. At the time, Brad Pitt said that she was going through a Peter Pan phase.

Pitt said:  “She only wants to be called John. John or Peter. So it’s a Peter Pan thing. So we’ve got to call her John. ‘Shi, do you want…’ – ‘John. I’m John.’ And then I’ll say, ‘John, would you like some orange juice?’ And she goes, ‘No!’ So, you know, it’s just that kind of stuff that’s cute to parents and it’s probably really obnoxious to other people.”

While Shiloh, who is now 8-years-old, did wear a suit to the premiere of Unbroken, it’s not clear if she still likes to go by the name John.

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie are probably great parents and if Shiloh ever really does identify as a male they’ll probably be very supportive. But that doesn’t seem to be an issue at the moment.
