GOP staffer Elizabeth Lauten made headlines over the Thanksgiving Holiday for making some mean comments about President Obama’s daughters Sasha and Malia.
Lauten criticized the girls on Facebook for how they acted during the ridiculous annual holiday tradition of pardoning a turkey. Lauten told Malia and Sasha Obama that they should at least try and “show a little class.” She also said that they were lacking in the “good role model” department and that they were dressed inapprorpriately for an event at the White House.
Here’s Lauten’s Facebook post:
“Dear Sasha and Malia, I get you’re both in those awful teen years, but you’re a part of the First Family, try showing a little class. At least respect the part you play. Then again your mother and father don’t respect their positions very much, or the nation for that matter, so I’m guessing you’re coming up a little short in the ‘good role model’ department. Nevertheless, stretch yourself. Rise to the occasion. Act like being in the White House matters to you. Dress like you deserve respect, not a spot at a bar. And certainly don’t make faces during televised public events.”
Elizabeth Lauten’s observations weren’t unique. Several publications playfully chided the Obama girls for being bored during America’s stupidest tradition, but Lauten’s comments apparently crossed an uncrossable line. She issued an apology on her Facebook page and is now planning on resigning.

You can watch the video of Malia and Sasha Obama at the annual turkey pardon below. Yes, they absolutely look like they would rather be anywhere else. But who can blame them? How would you feel if your dad was making bad jokes on television before pardoning a turkey? Yeah, we’d roll our eyes too.
