Prince Plays 8-Minute Medley On ‘SNL’


Most musicians play their biggest hits when they get invited to play on Saturday Night Live. But not Prince. The eccentric musician played an extended 8-minute set last night on SNL and he didn’t touch his hit songs like “Purple Rain” or “1999.”

Instead, Prince, along with his backing band 3rd Eye Girl, played “Clouds, “Maybe We’re Better Off In Space,” Marz,” and “AnotherLove.” According to Rolling Stone, the last time Prince played an extended set like this on live television was at the Super Bowl in 2007.

Host Chris Rock said: “Ladies and gentleman. You are so lucky tonight.”

Rock also posted a photo of himself dancing with the band on his Facebook page.

While most people enjoyed Prince’s epic performance, Rock’s monologue was a little uncomfortable. The comedian riffed on hilarious topics like the Boston Marathon Bombing and the 9/11 terrorist attacks.

Rock said: I’m not going in (to the Freedom Towers). I don’t care if Scarlett Johansson is buck-naked on the 89th floor in a plate of ribs… Do these buildings duck?!”
