‘The Big Lebowski 2’ Confirmed? Fake Report Fools The Internet

Sorry dudes, The Big Lebowski 2 isn’t in the works.

A fake, and unusually cruel, report from the National Report got Big Lebowski fans excited over the weekend. The report claimed that Joel and Ethan Coen were getting ready to film a followup to the cult classic.

The website quoted Ethan Coen saying: “We’re thrilled to be coming back to film a second part to this classic movie … For years we’ve been staying away from doing this project but when we received this new script and the cast fell into place, it was a no-brainer. We just had to do it.”

The report also claimed that Bill Murray was going to play the Dude’s estranged brother in the new film.

Murray was quoted saying: “I always loved the first movie, so when the Coen brothers offered me the role of The Dude’s long lost brother, I couldn’t say no. I’ve been fortunate enough to read the entire screenplay and I can say without a doubt, old and new fans are going be in for a real treat.”

But none of this is true. The Coen brothers haven’t written a new script, Bill Murray isn’t going to play a second Dude, and there are no plans (at the moment) for The Big Lebowski 2.

The National Report is a satire site that frequently posts hoax articles. A disclaimer on the site reads: National Report is a news and political satire web publication, which may or may not use real names, often in semi-real or mostly fictitious ways. All news articles contained within National Report are fiction, and presumably fake news.”
