TweetDeck Update Adds Several New Features

TweetDeck is one of the most popular third-party Twitter clients out there, and today it received a new update for PC and Chrome users that brings several new features. Just last month, the application was updated with more of a cosmetic update that brought a new light theme and improved fonts.

One of the first new features is keyboard shortcuts. For right now there are only a few, but there are said to be even more coming soon. Here they are:

  • To open the tweet compose window, hit ‘n’.
  • Want to more easily send a tweet? Simply hit ctrl+enter.
  • Hit the escape key to close the compose window.

TweetDeck has always allowed search columns, which can be great for keeping on top of the latest topics. However, if you wanted to edit or change the search term, phrase, or keywords within a column, you’ll have to delete it and create a new one.

With this new update, you can now edit search criteria without having to create a new column. Another feature allows you to more easily look at lists, either your own or others, instead of having to navigate to it.

The same way you would perform a search, you can type in @username/listname to pull up a specific list. Twitter has also added more support for their Cards feature with better photo and player integration.

Acquired in 2011, TweetDeck has gone through many changes since then. For Mac users, there’s no word on when the update will be out.
