It finally happened. Alfonso Ribeiro did the Carlton Dance on Dancing With The Stars last night.
Fans of The Fresh Prince Of Bel-Air and DWTS have been waiting to see the Carlton Dance ever since it was announced that Alfonso Ribeiro would be dancing on the hit reality show this season. Well, last night he delivered.
Ribiero said that he has been reluctant to revisit the character of Carlton Banks over the years. The actor said that he felt pigeonholed by the character’s fame and has been trying to shed the persona ever since the Fresh Prince ended.
Unfortunately, it doesn’t look like Alsonso Ribeiro will ever be able to distance himself from Carlton Banks. On the bright side, it looks like he’s embracing it now.
Ribeiro said: “I was pigeonholed as an actor based on that character … (But) I love how it makes people feel. I love the fact that people have this nostalgic look at that dance. My No. 1 goal this week is to please the fans and to give America what I feel they’ve been asking for since the beginning of this show: The Carlton.”
Ribeiro and his partner Witney Carson broke into the Carlton Dance midway through their performance last night.
Yeah, that was pretty amazing. You can’t really develop an entire routine around The Carlton Dance. Alfonso Ribeiro and Witney Carson did a great job of sneaking the iconic movie into their performance last night.
It paid off. The judges gave Alfonso Ribeiro and Witney Carson a perfect 40.
