Ron Artest, AKA Metta World Peace, AKA The Panda’s Friend, AKA guy who desperately wants the spotlight pointing in his direction, unveiled his new sneaker today on Instagram.
The shoe is… well it’s… well I guess you just have to see it for yourself.
Initial reports claimed that the panda head was detachable. The plan was for Ron Artest to wear these shoes during his pre-game warmups, then before the game started he would toss one of the panda heads to a fan in the crowd.
I could get behind that. It’s a little gimmicky but it would be fun and would make Metta World Peace a fan favorite in China.
But according to The Panda’s Friend, this report isn’t true. Ron Artest will be running up and down the court during an actual basketball game in China with stuffed animals on his feet.
The bear is not detachable. The Teddy bear is a permanent and is the pandas friend! The ears on the side are also not detachable. Enjoy

Needless to say, The Panda’s Friend panda shoes have been relentlessly mocked on Twitter. But it doesn’t seem like Metta World Peace is taking any offense. He even retweeted one of his favorite jokes.

Metta World Peace arrived in China today (see video below) and will soon take the court with the Sichuan Blue Whales.
