Reggie Bush Defends Child Abuse Comments On Twitter

Where’s the line? Reggie Bush hasn’t hit his one-year-old daughter yet but he did say that he didn’t have problem with a little physical discipline.

Bush was on a radio show last night when he started talking about Adrian Peterson’s recent indictment for child abuse. Bush said that he would obviously try not to leave bruises on his daughter but said that he would hit her. You know, if she deserved it.

Bush said: “I definitely will try to – will obviously not leave bruises or anything like that on her. But I definitely will discipline her harshly depending on what the situation is … I said spanking. Spanking is different than a branch or a stick.”

Several people saw Bush’s comments and accused the football star of advocating for child abuse. Bush denied the accusation on Twitter today, saying that he would never “beat” his child.

Peterson gave a similar excuse after he was indicted for child abuse. The Minnesota Vikings running back said that he was hit as a child and that he saw nothing wrong with disciplining his children the same way that his parents disciplined him.

And several people agree. The big question is where’s the line? Is it ever OK to hit your child? Is spanking over the line? Is using a tree branch over the line? Is it only wrong if it leaves a mark?
