On “Live with Kelly & Michael” this morning, Kelly Ripa told viewers she was unable to attend Joan Rivers’ funeral because she was attending a destination wedding for How I Met Your Mother’s Neil Patrick Harris and his now husband, David Burtka. SURPRISE!
The wedding took place in Italy over the weekend. It was a “It was a very quiet, very private, very family affair…” said Ripa.
Harris took part in letting his fans know what happened this morning with a tweet, “Guess what? @DavidBurtka and I got married over the weekend. In Italy. Yup, we put the ‘n’ and ‘d’ in ‘husband'”

The wedding was officiated by HIMYM Director Pam Fryman, People reported. Ripa went on with some of the private details saying the wedding was at a rented Castle where Elton John performed.
