Well that was quick. Director Peyton Reed hasn’t even finished casting Ant Man yet but we’ve already got our first photo of Paul Rudd as Scott Lang.
USA Today reports that Reed, Rudd, and the rest of the crew started production on Monday in San Francisco. It was also announced today that John Slattery, Judy Greer and rapper T.I. have joined the cast.
That’s pretty unbelievable considering that Edgar Wright, who has been developing the movie for years, left the production a few months ago over creative differences. But that hasn’t stopped Marvel. Within weeks they found a new director in Paul Reed, fleshed out the cast, and started shooting.
Here’s the first look at Paul Rudd as Scott Lang in Ant-Man.

The first image from the movie Ant-Man isn’t nearly as flashy some of the other Marvel movies. But that doesn’t mean that the special effects in the new film will be second class.
Rudd said: “The way technology has advanced just in the last few years, picturing this world, what they can do with this kind of story line and character, I thought this could be something that could be very strange and hasn’t been seen before. I was really excited about being a part of something like that.”
Marvel has an uphill battle with Ant-Man (the superhero character isn’t nearly as well known as Iron Man or The Hulk) so you can expect a pretty big viral marketing push. The movie is slated for release on July of 2015.
