RIP Jay Adams: Legendary Skateboarder Dies At 53

Jay Adams passed away today at the age of 53.

TMZ reports that the legendary skateboarder, who was portrayed by Emile Hirsch in the film Lords Of Dogtown, suffered a heart attack in Mexico earlier this week.

Adams was one of the most inventive skaters in the history of the sport and is considered by many to be one of the godfathers of modern skateboarding. Stacy Peralta, another member of the original ZBoys, said: “(Jay Adams) is probably not the greatest skater of all time, but I can say without fear of being wrong that he is clearly the archetype of modern-day skateboarding.”

Adams dealt with addiction throughout his life and severed several years in prison for felony drug charges. According to TMZ, his recent trip to Mexico was the first time he had been allowed out of the United States since the 80s.
