The iPhone 6 Is Nearly Indestructible [Report]

The iPhone 6 will be nearly indestructible. Well, that’s the latest rumor floating around the internet.

VideoBlogger Marques Brownlee has been running test on a piece of glass that is rumored to be the screen of the iPhone 6. The material is sturdy, flexible, and nearly indestructible.

Brownlee has been attacking the screen with keys, knives, and anything else he can find to demonstrate the screen’s strength. It wasn’t until he used garnet sandpaper that he finally managed to scratch the screen.

According to the Guardian, Apple patents have been uncovered which hint that the screen will be made of a mixture of glass and sapphire.

Prof Neil Alford of the department of materials at Imperial College London said: “Apple has patents for both sapphire lamination – taking two different cuts of sapphire to induce strain and increase its resilience – and for fusing quartz or silica (glass) to sapphire. So they could certainly do that.”

But did they do that? Apple hasn’t commented on the screen yet so we’ll have to wait until the iPhone 6 is released to find out for sure. So when is that? According to DigiTimes, the iPhone 6 will get released “very soon.” FoxCon has reportedly ordered more than 100 million units and plans to have them finished by the end of 2014.

Some reports claim that the iPhone 6 could hit stores as early as September.
