The Fourth Of July is always big day for Joey Chestnut but this year was something extra special. In addition to winning the Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest, the competitive eater used the occasion to propose to his girlfriend.

Yes, Joey Chestnut put down 61 hot dogs today during Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest to win his eight title. That’s pretty impressive but it wasn’t Chestnut’s best performance. He ate 69 hot dogs in 2013. Chestnut said: “I could never find my rhythm so it was just a dogfight the whole time.”
