World Cup Biter Luis Suarez Suspended For Four Months

Luis Suarez will forever be known (at least in the United States) as that guy that bit that other guy during the World Cup. The Uruguay forward was suspended today for the remainder of the World Cup for biting Italy defender Giorgio Chiellini earlier in the tournament.

According to the Telegraph, FIFA has suspended Suarez for four months. Suarez will not be allowed in any football stadium during the world cup and has been barred from any competitive football activity until October. That means that Suarez won’t be playing in the remainder of the World Cup and that he’ll miss the start of the Premiere League season.

Suarez has also been fined 100,000 Swiss francs (about $110,000).

Daily Telegraph soccer correspondent Henry Winter said that the team will be able to transfer him during his suspension.

Reactions to the Luis Suarez ban have varied. Some people think that FIFA has been too lenient with the three-time offender while others don’t see why the ban should also effect Premiere League play.

Are you surprised with Luis Suarez’s punishment?
