Steve Martin: ‘Father Of The Bride 3’ Is News To Me

Someone should probably tell Steve Martin that he’ll be starring in Father Of The Bride 3. 

Nikki Finke reported yesterday that another Father Of The Bride movie is in the works. The cast has not been announced yet but many people are assuming that Steve Martin, who played Mr. Banks in the first two films, would reprise his role in the third movie.

Well, apparently no one has told Mr. Martin yet.

Father Of The Bride 3 will reportedly focus on the marriage of Mr. Banks’ son Matty Banks. Matty, who was originally played by Kieran Culkin, will be gay in the new movie and will be marrying a US Navy Seal. This, apparently, doesn’t sit well with Mr. Banks who ends up objecting to the wedding. Steve Martin hasn’t seen the script yet but I’m guessing that he won’t want to play a bigot in the new movie.

So, Father Of The Bride 3 is apparently happening but we probably shouldn’t expect Steve Martin to reprise his role.
