German Teenager Accidentally Invites 15,000 Facebook Users To Birthday Party

German 16 year old birthday

When you accidentally invite 15,000 Facebook users to your 16th birthday party you probably worry and when 1,500 actually show up it’s still not the best of circumstances, but that’s exactly what happened to a girl in Germany.

Users of Facebook quickly received word of the party which was happening at the girls grandparents “undisclosed location” and showed up in celebration even though she cancelled the event.

Eleven people were temporarily detained, one police officer was injured, dozens of girls wearing flip-flops cut their feet on broken glass and firefighters had to extinguish two small fires at the 16th birthday party in Hamburg, police spokesman Mirko Streiber said Sunday.

[…]

Some revelers held up signs asking “Where is Thessa?” others brought birthday presents and homemade cake, there was lots of alcohol and the crowd chanted again and again, “Thessa, celebrating a birthday is not a crime,” — in obvious relation to the massive police presence, Bild reported.

What surprises us the most is that 1,500 people in Germany actually thought a 16 year old’s birthday party was actually worth attending.
