White House Says Goodbye To Jay Carney

President Obama announced today that Jay Carney would be stepping down from his position as the White House Press Secretary.

Carney said: “It’s been an amazing experience. Just so fulfilling … I’m not saying it’s easy every day but I love it. It’s an important interaction that takes place here …To be a part of it is an honor and a joy for me.”

USA Today reports that Carney will continue to work for the White House until at least mid-June. At that point he will be replaced by Josh Earnest.

Earnest isn’t a new face to the President. The incoming press secretary has been with Obama since before he was president.

The President said: “Josh and I have an incredible history going all the way back to the Iowa caucuses.”

For some people, White House Press Secretary Jay Carney’s departure couldn’t have come soon enough. Twitter let up with messages about Jay Carney shortly after the announcement was made. Some of those messages, like the ones above, wished Carney luck on his future endeavors. Others, well, they basically said good riddance.
