Jon Hamm is widely regarded as one of the sexiest male actors working on television today. But the studly star of Mad Men wasn’t always a heartthrob. Back in the 1980s he was just a regular dude with really bad hair trying to score a date on a game show.
This clip, unearthed by Lighthearded Entertainment, shows a 25-year-0ld Jon Hamm on The Big Date.
During his appearance, Hamm was asked to describe his perfect date. The actor’s answer was, well, fabulous.
Hamm said: “Well, you start off with some fabulous food and then some fabulous conversation with a fabulous foot massage for an evening of total fabulousity.”
Unfortunately that answer wasn’t enough to secure Hamm a date. The female contestant rejected the future Mad Men actor because she said his hair was absolutely hideous. Well, not exactly. She actually chose one of the other contestants simply because he was the only one to shake her hand.

OK, so maybe Hamm isn’t exactly “ugly” in this video. But the long hair doesn’t work quite as well as his look on Mad Men.
