Chile was hit by an 8.2-magnitude earthquake Tuesday evening around 8:46 PM local time, and currently six people are reported dead.
It struck off the coast 60 miles northwest of Iquique, and the USGS said it had a depth of 12.5 miles.
“The fact is, we will know the extent of the damage as time goes by and when we inspect the areas in the light of day. The country has faced these first emergency hours very well.”
