Medium Launches Read-only iPhone App

Medium iPhone app

Medium, an elegant blogging platform has launched an app for the iPhone that allows users to read blogs on the site.

The blogs are in displayed in the form of a feed which are automatically recommended based on who you follow.

The app currently has no publishing tools that users can use to write content, the Medium app is read-only and is for browsing, not creating.

Medium founder Ev Williams says every week thousands of people go to Medium to share their stories, ideas, dreams, and visions, and that the company wants to help amplify their voices with the app.

The company started working on the app six months ago, and debated on whether or not the app would be for writing or just reading.

Williams says after they created the prototype, the differences could be seen in the detail and they decided to allow the heart of Medium to step to the front, focusing on just the stories.

The app features dynamic interface guides that lets users easily browse through thousands of stories from world-famous authors to first-time contributors.

Users can sign in with their Twitter account and swipe through the personalized Reading List that is custom tailored to their interests.
