Goodbye Flappy Bird: Dong Nguyen To Take Game Down Tomorrow

flappy bird dead

It’s time to say goodbye to Flappy Bird. The incredibly popular mobile game may soon leave the iTunes app store.

Creator Dong Nguyen wrote on Twitter today that he was going to take the game down. Nguyen said that he was not ready for Flappy Bird’s enormous success and that he just can’t handle the game’s popularity anymore.

Flappy Bird is truly a surprise success story. Business Week even penned a dumbfounded article last week trying to figure out how the game became such a huge success. Nguyen is also shocked at the game’s popularity and he doesn’t want to be in the spotlight anymore.

Nguyen could sell Flappy Bird to a company that is ready to take on a huge customer base but the game designer said that isn’t planning on selling the game to anyone.

He will, however, continue to make games. Of course, he’s probably hoping that they aren’t nearly as successful as Flappy Bird.

Nguyen sent out his tweets about an hour ago. That means that you only have until about noon tomorrow to play Flappy Bird.
