Shaun White withdrew from the Sochi Olympics Slopestyle event this week because he felt like the course was dangerous. His competitors, however, say that White decided to pull out because he knew that he was going to lose.

Canadian Sebastien Toutant, who is one of the favorites to win Gold during the Slopestyle event in Sochi, wrote on Twitter that Shaun White only pulled out because he knew that he couldn’t win.

Teammate Maxence Parrot issued a similar statement.

Parrot said: “Shaun knows he won’t be able to win the slopes, that’s why he pulled out. He’s scared!”

Parrot ended up deleting his tweet and issued a semi-apology to Shaun White. The Canadian snowboarder said that he was just upset that one of the biggest names in snowboarding wouldn’t be participating in the Slopestyle event.

White injured his wrist earlier this week and announced on Wednesday that he would not be participating in the event. The snowboarder said cited “risk” is the reason for his withdrawal.

Shaun White will still be snowboarding at the Olympics but his main focus will now be on the half-pipe event.
