Trent Reznor To Grammy Organizers: ‘F*ck You’ For Cutting Off Performance

Trent Reznor , Dave Grohl, and Queens of the Stone Age took the stage last night to close out the Grammy Awards. It was an awesome performance… except, you know, for those little ads that kept popping up. The Nine Inch Nails frontman was pretty furious when he found out that his show was cut off in order to shell for companies like Delta.

He was so mad that he sent a message to the organizers of the Grammy Awards on Twitter.

Spin Magazine speculates that Reznor may have been upset that his album, Hesitation Marks, was snubbed in favor of Vampire Weekend’s Modern Vampires of the City, but I doubt it. Trent has won several awards, including a few Oscars, so it’s not too likely that he was mad at the Grammy voters for picking Modern Vampires of the City as the best Alternative Album of the Year.

It’s much more probable that Reznor was pissed that his music was interrupted for an ad. But even that might not warrant a “f*ck you” tweet. After all, the same thing has happened to the closing performers over the last few years.

Maybe Trent didn’t expect it. Maybe he talked to the producers beforehand telling them not to cut him off. Maybe Trent’s just salty about not winning the award. Whatever the reason, getting cut off last night is just going to add to Reznor’s hate for the Grammy Awards. In 2011 he told The Hollywood Reporter, “Why don’t the Grammys matter? Because it feels rigged and cheap — like a popularity contest that the insiders club has decided.”
