Lindsey Vonn has withdrawn from the Sochi Olympics.
The gold medalist announced on Facebook page today that she will not be able to compete at the 2014 Olympic games. Vonn has suffered several injuries this year and won’t have enough time to train before Team USA heads to Russia.
Vonn injured her knee in a crash last year, The Olympic skiier has been working hard to get back in shape but her plans were derailed when she fell again on the slopes. Vonn is basically skiing without an ACL now and she’s just not strong enough to compete.
But it wasn’t because of a lack of effort.
The skier constantly updated her Instagram page with photos of her intense workouts. She squatted, curled, sprinted, and stretched her way back to health but in the end Vonn’s injury was too much to overcome.
It’s too bad. Vonn gave it her all to get back for the Sochi Olympics. The skier hasn’t announced any plans about the 2018 games and she probably isn’t thinking about that yet. At the moment, Vonn is just trying to get back on both feet.
